A New Era of Luxury and Refinement: The Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Residences in Miami

By: Steve Turk

Swire Properties has given us the first peek into its upcoming project, One Island Drive, a beacon of understated luxury nestled on the scenic waterfront of Miami's Brickell Key. The long-awaited unveiling presents a vision of a high-end residential and hospitality destination designed to provide a tranquil escape mere moments away from Miami's bustling city center.

One Island Drive, an ambitious offering from Swire Properties, stands as a testament to the company's legacy of creating world-class properties. With this, Swire Properties breathes life into a new defining landmark on Miami's skyline, brimming with refined luxury.

The two-tower development is an oasis of calm at the southernmost tip of Brickell Key. The first tower, boasting a soaring height of over 800 feet, is set to house The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Miami. The Residences will feature 220 spacious, beautifully appointed private homes ranging from two to four bedrooms, along with two duplex penthouses each stretching over an expansive 6,000 square feet.

The second tower, approximately 400 feet tall, is all set to accommodate the North American flagship of the esteemed Mandarin Oriental brand. This new iconic destination will offer 151 guest rooms, 61 private Residences, and 28 hotel Residences.

The Mandarin Oriental brand holds a special place in the heart of The Hospitality Mentor's founder, Steve Turk, who has an extensive history with the luxury brand from his tenure in Miami. He understands the level of hospitality, service and personal touch this brand creates.

Henry Bott, President of Swire Properties Inc., detailed the unique allure of One Island Drive. According to Bott, this project combines the glamour and excitement of Miami with the ultimate privacy, surrounded by a blend of natural beauty, sparkling waters, and majestic vistas.

The towers are linked by a resort-style podium teeming with luxury amenities. One Island Drive offers an array of multi-tiered infinity pools, private cabanas, private dining rooms with chef kitchens, world-class restaurants, a signature spa, and state-of-the-art health and wellness facilities.

These amenities make it a true island sanctuary, with intricately designed interiors complementing private outdoor spaces that offer unmatched views of Biscayne Bay. All of this is envisioned as a tropical Eden, with lush greenery extending the much-loved Brickell Key baywalk.

James Riley, CEO of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, spoke highly of their ongoing relationship with Swire Properties, reminiscing about their collaboration over 23 years ago, which forever raised the bar of hospitality in Miami.

The One Island Drive project is the result of a first-of-its-kind collaboration between a global design team of award winners. Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates will craft the bold exterior architecture, Parisian designer Tristan Auer will define the rich aesthetic vision of The Residences' interiors, and Parisian designer Laura Gonzalez and renowned Thai firm Shma will craft the hotel interiors and landscape architecture respectively.

With prices starting from $3,500,000 and sales set to launch in late 2023, One Island Drive will be the first residential property to be built on Brickell Key in the last 15 years, marking the final chance to own a new residence on this coveted island.

As Swire Properties continues to shape the neighborhood of Brickell, creating a new center of gravity with its developments, one can look forward to the exciting unveiling of One Island Drive, the future emblem of luxury living in Miami.
